On a cold and dark Valentine's Day evening, the roads of Godfrey were blanketed with snow, making the journey to Picadilly Arena treacherous. Despite the challenging conditions, the Frontenac faithful were undeterred according to team owner Colton Distefano. “It was the start of the best-of-three playoff series in the Eastern Ontario Senior Hockey League, and our Frontenac Phantoms facing the Smiths Falls Rideaus”, he said, noting that the dans were dressed in black and orange, the Phantoms colours. “Justin Alarie's voice boomed over the speakers, capturing the essence of the game with every play,” he added, “and although Martin Rioux [the team captain] was not there, the Phantoms played with heart and determination”.

Nick Kirby, number 12 for the Phantoms, scored a late goal in the third period, marking a triumphant season return after an injury. Colton said that Nick’s perseverance throughout the year had made him a spark plug for the team. But the goal did not have a major impact on the lopsided score, however, as the Rideaus took out the Phantoms 18-1 The score could have been even more lopsided, according to Colton. “Graham Gemmill put on a show with highlight-worthy saves throughout the game,” he said. “Injuries and penalties took a big toll on our team.”

It was coach Chris Kelly’s first year as head coach of the Phantoms and Colton appreciated his efforts. “Among the highlights for us this season was the play of assistant captain Lanny Mutch, and our three American players, Trevor Forsythe, Adam Roberts, and Robert Rice, showed unmatched commitment in both practice and games”. As the game ended at 10:10 pm, the Phantoms' journey came to a bittersweet conclusion. The weather cancelled out the second game, and the team was forced out of the playoffs. However, the night was a celebration of their recent accomplishments and the community's unwavering support.

The Phantoms have won the hearts of the local fans this season, and the team is already looking forward to the start of the next season.
