On November 22 at 6:30 pm in Roblin, Friends of the Salmon River invites the public to Our Fish and Fisheries and the Annual General Meeting.

Colin Lake, lead biologist at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF), will present a slide show on the management of the current commercial and recreational fisheries in Lake Ontario, the Bay of Quinte and the lakes in the Salmon River watershed.

Colin has been with MNRF’s Lake Ontario Management Unit for eighteen years in various positions; his current role is the Lead Planning Biologist. Growing up locally in Sharbot Lake, he developed a strong interest in all things outdoors and a passion for understanding and managing our local fisheries. Colin will share with us some insightful information on the Lake Ontario Management Unit, based out of Glenora in Prince Edward County.

During his in-person presentation, participants will have the opportunity to learn a great deal about the biology of the many fish species in our area. Colin will speak about the management and stocking practices of the fish in our waterways. He will also highlight the impact of invasive species on our native aquatics. Colin will also share some exciting stories from his work in the field.

Come and learn more about the Friends of Salmon River: our activities and how we enjoy and help preserve the watershed. This is a free event and refreshments will be served.

Join us at Roblin Wesleyan Church, 3100 County Rd 41, Roblin on Wednesday, November 22. Doors open at 6:30 for Meet & Greet, memberships and donations. The presentation begins at 7 pm.
