The 192nd edition of the Kingston Fall is happening September 12-15 this year, and it’s a busy time for rural and urban residents alike. The farming community and 4-H folks are gearing up for competitions in livestock competitions in beef, dairy and swine. 4-H kids are figuring out ways to win this year’s scarecrow contest. There are lots of other competitions for both adults and kids, including crafts, photography, cooking and canning, plus flowers, fruits and vegetables. A full schedule of horse shows is also planned, including the popular horse and pony pulls, Obstacle Course, Mini-horse Derby, Western Games and the Hunter Jumper show is back this year, with thanks to Fort Garry Stables.

If you’d like to compete for cash and bragging rights, all the details on entering are on the Kingston Fair website at www.kingstonfair.com. On-line entries are available through the Assist Expo website for most competitions, or you can also download the membership and entry forms from the site. Entry tags can be picked up at the fair board office at the Kingston Memorial Centre. Another traditional competition that’s returning this year is the Country Singing Showdown. New this year is the collaboration with The Buckle, a downtown country bar, where auditions will be hosted August 8 and 15 for Adults, August 11 and 18 for youth age 5 – 12 and juniors age 13 – 17. Audition applications are on the website and there are still a few spots left to take the stage and sing for cash prizes. Finals will happen Sept. 13 and 14 at the Fair.

Advance ticket sales are available now through the website, at $10 for adults and $5 for ages 6 – 17. Children 5 and under are admitted free. Ride-All-Day midway passes are also available at the Kingston Fair Board office in the Memorial Centre now till September 10 for $40 (cash only). The passes will be $45 on-site during the fair.
