Group classes start up on Saturdays in Sept 2023 at the Maberly Hall, under direction of Cindy McCall.
There will be a new beginner group, requires no experience, starting Sept 9th. This group is for anyone age 8 and up. Classes focus on the basic techniques of the fiddle and mandolin, as well as the fundamentals of reading music and learning to play while having fun. The beginner group typically practices together for 2 to 3 years before joining the main group. Class time is 1pm to 2pm Saturdays. There is also an intermediate group, for students who have at least 1or 2 years experience from 9am to 10am Saturdays. The main orchestra group meets from 10:15 to 12:30 Saturdays. Fiddles are available to rent for $10 a month.
The classes are usually divided into three semesters, covering different materials and techniques throughout each semester. Cost is $100 per term. The Main Orchestra performs throughout the year at community events, festivals and in the schools.
Thanks to Blue Skies in the Community and Tay Valley Township for the support, to keep our group open and affordable to the community.
