With all the negativity in geopolitics these days, especially with Trump, we often focus on the negatives causing us stress. I have been reflecting and have identified some positives that I believe we should focus on.
First, I have to say that our response to USA aggression has generated even greater pride in how we can band together, especially with the current void within our Canadian government. Due to this it has resulted in our provincial leaders banding together, which in itself will provide many benefits in the future.
Some particular benefits I am seeing develop: The focus on buying Canadian has always been talked about but never like it is being supported by the general public as we are seeing today. We should all resolve not to let this action fade away when things improve like we do with so many past issues. This focus alone will not only support Canadian business and support local producers and local/Canadian economies but will result in a more secure and sustainable future.
The next thing I see as a positive is a focus on internal provincial trade. Removing internal Canadian barriers will help all Canadian businesses and assist with supporting "Buy Canadian" as mentioned above, also resulting in a more sustainable Canada and less reliance on procurement from the USA and other countries. The focus on strengthening the military is finally going to be addressed. The world is changing before our eyes, and feeling safe and comfortable here in Canada is ebbing away.
You and I can be warriors addressing the economy, we need a military that can effectively address any potential future aggression. Our pride in Canada has always been there as it should be. We have much to be proud of. When things get rough we really work together to respond to any threat to our great country. We often get divisive related to our internal politics, it is more important than ever that we collaborate versus attacking.
Our leaders are finally seeing what it means and how effective it is when they work together. I only hope that this gets cemented in our culture going forward. I have one ask though. I am disappointed in the booing of National anthems. It is a disrespect to both countries based on the wars and the work we both accomplished in the past to create our respectful democracies. I understand the rationale and many feel it is the only way to express their feelings. We have many friends in the USA and there is only one person that has created this chaos. Focus on boycotting any Trump or Musk companies instead of booing anthems.
You and I can do much outside the realm of politics, let's get er done eh!
