To North Frontenac taxpayers

It is with great frustration that I write this letter to the editor. A meeting was held this past Monday night and a motion was passed to go ahead with a green energy program that will invest your property tax money into solar panels. At our July 2 meeting this motion was voted down and the green energy program was put to rest. Then out of nowhere, I find this matter back on an agenda for a special unplanned meeting on Monday, July 29.

Yes, it is important to find an alternative energy to help conserve, but to have it come out of the taxpayers’ pocket is where my objections begin.

To suggest that a community, where the majority of the taxpayers are senior citizens, should invest in a program that will not see any payback in their lifetime is ludicrous.

We are a township that should be investing property tax dollars into maintenance of this township. I do not agree with spending property tax dollars on investments that may or may not pay off someday in my grandchild’s lifetime. If you agree with anything I have mentioned here, please contact your local councilor and mayor to voice your concerns.

Re: Catch 22 - Franks Park

In the article "Catch 22 – North Frontenac Style", July 25, 2013, I should point out that not all of the add-ons that North Frontenac has allowed to remain are pre-made add-ons. At the Loon’s Call Campground and Resort there are add-ons that are NOT manufactured. Ours are similar to these. Also the agreement to settle that we signed with the township allows us to modify or alter our add-ons to be in compliance. Seeing as how the township is aware, charges taxes and has allowed others to keep their add-ons, we are simply asking to be treated the same.
