“All I can say is ‘Wow’. The community support this event received was beyond amazing.

We are fortunate to live in a generous supportive community,” said Teri Wood of the Cloyne Recreation Club about the Easter egg hunt at Pine Meadow Nursing Home last Saturday.

Wood said that the support from Pine Meadow Nursing Home residents and staff, who lent their patio out for a couple of hours, was essential to the event.

The activity staff at the home too care of decorating, providing tables, and made it possible for residents and family members to pack candy bags for the children who came out.

The Golden Girls and the Old Pharts also provided volunteers.

The event raised $400 for the local Alzheimer’s Society. Among the special extras at the hunt was a photo booth for children and families, which was put together and managed by Marlean McLean.

About 125 children participated, along with family members. Six special door prizes were won, scooters and bikes for the lucky kids, all provided courtesy of local businesses.

Refreshments were provided by Northbrook Foodland and Mama Bear Micro Bake House. MP Shelby Kramp took a break from contesting the federal election campaign, where she is running for re-election in the Hastings-Lennox and Addington riding, to come out and support the hunt at Pine Meadow.

“The community support this event received was beyond amazing. We are fortunate to live in a generous supportive community” said Teri Wood.
