Saturday September 14th saw the Ompah Community Hall overflowing with people who came to honour Barb Sproule and thank her for her many, many contributions to the community over her lifetime. There were several speeches outlining her various careers as a teacher, as Reeve of the Township for many years, with her long tenure leading the Township Committee of Adjustment as well as being a font of Township knowledge, often consulted by the historians of the area. She was presented with a painting of the Side Down Rapids by local artist Linda Rush.
The Hall was filled with flowers, with tons of donated food and with 70 or 80 well-wishers all trying to get a word in with Barb. Thank you to Janice Arthur for organizing the event, for the many volunteers who worked to make the event happen and of course to Barb Sproule for being such an important part of community life for so many decades.
