North Frontenac Township’s Economic Development Task Force (EDTF) hosted a Business Over Breakfast event at the Clar-Mil Hall last Thursday (October 3).
The breakfast featured pancakes, sausage, Riverhill Farms Maple Syrup, and a host of speakers from the township, the county, and the region.
North Frontenac Township was represented by Mayor Gerry Lichty, who greeted over 40 local residents and business people, as well as the planning team: Clerk/Planning Manager Tara Mieske, and Deputy Clerk/ Assistant Planning Manager Brooke Dreschler.
Frontenac County was represented by Debbi Miller, Community Development Officer in the Economic Development department. Anne Prichard (Executive Director) and Shaunis Sakell (Business Advisor) were on hand from Frontenac Business Services, and Shari Pearce from the Madoc Chamber of Commerce.
North Frontenac Councillor Stephanie Regent, who became the chair-person of the task force this past spring, took on the hosting and organising responsibilities at the event.
She thanked the Clar-Mil Volunteers for putting on the breakfast, and the speakers for their time.
In her remarks she talked about the task force.
“Economic development has been a passion of mine since I opened my first business 15 years ago,” she said.
“When our deputy mayor asked me to take the chair position of the EDTF earlier this year I was honored. I’d like to thank John [Inglis] for his expertise over the last 8 years on this committee and I am pleased that he is still a member. We have a great group of leaders on this task force and with the long-term success of our township in our sights, there is a lot of work to do.
Thank you to the businesses for coming today to our business breakfast. You are a vital and valuable part of our community. Our community relies on our businesses. We must work with you to ensure progress and sustainability of our township.”
