Councillor Stephanie Regent | Dec 11, 2024
Earlier this year, I was asked to take over Chair of the Economic Development Task Force (EDTF) for the Township of North Frontenac. This task force has been in existence for well over ten years and has been chaired by our Deputy Mayor, John Inglis. I gladly accepted and was pleased that John was going to remain on the task force as a member.
We currently have 8 members: Paul Thiel, Dan Vaillancourt, Councillor Roy Huetl, Deputy Mayor John Inglis, Danielle Kesco, Cyndy Bonello and two new members as of January 20th, 2025, Brandon Hartwig and Tammy Watson.
Each of these individuals brings a wealth of expertise to this task force. Some are business owners and some are previous business owners but what is common amongst all of them is that they believe in our Township and they believe in progress.
As a young kid coming up here to my grandfather’s cottage then my parents home and now living here, I have had almost 52 years to care for and love this area. It seems like just yesterday when my sister and I would bike over to Snider’s on Highway 41 and order Mrs. Snider’s homemade pie.
Sadly; many businesses are gone; several are for sale and our population growth is slow. We must look towards what we can do for the future of our township in the way of affordable housing, business development and added health care services.
We have a great group of motivated, interested and dedicated people who understand the needs of our community. They believe in growth, change and progress and I for one, can say on behalf of the team, we need your input and feedback.
We meet once per month, either on a Monday or a Tuesday, at 9am, except in the summer months, when we hold early eventing meetings.
We said goodbye to one of the longest serving members of out task force Betty Hunter, who has retired from the task force at our Dec. 10 meeting. She has been on this task force and on the Frontenac Community Economic Development Advisory Committee for many years, for and we appreciate everything she has done for the township.
