Flinton Trunk or Treat is back for the 6th year.  Currently looking for trunkers and candy donations.  Please contact Teri Woods for more information on Facebook or by calling/texting 613-336-9100.

On Monday, October 16th at 1pm in the Barrie Community Hall, the Cloyne & District Historical Society will host historian Chris Anstead in his presentation, "The Colonization Roads of Eastern Ontario, and the Villages They Produced".  One of those roads, of course, runs right by our museum.  Come out and bring your friends.

The Land O’ Lakes Garden Club will hold their Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Lions Hall in Northbrook on Wednesday, November 8th, 2023 at 5pm.

Would you like to join in on some lively and fun entertainment? Come to the Land O’Lakes Lions Club Sunday, October 15th 2-5 when the Music and Friends Open Mic will be the happening place to be. Everyone is welcome with a $5 entrance fee, musicians are free. The bar and canteen will be open.

The Lions are encouraging Hunger Awareness this month. Watch for several Lions members to be outside the Hall donning cardboard cutouts promoting this serious problem in not only our area but in most communities. The demand has gone up significantly at our local Food Bank. In 2020 there were approximately 600 individuals or families needing boxes to over 900 in 2022 with the number certainly exceeding that in 2023. Please consider dropping off a non-perishable food item to the Hall or to the Food Bank itself in Cloyne. Every little bit helps. Look for us October 19-20th 10-2pm daily.

The Lions will be pumpkin painting with our community children Saturday, October 28th 10-noon. This is free of charge.

Barry and Donna Smith opened their petting zoo for Thanksgiving and to bid farewell, since, due to poor health, they are closing down for the winter. Their animals are moving to a farm in the Verona area, and any on-going donations and food will be going with the animals to that farm. They surely appreciate all the support over the years.

Henderson’s own Rebecca Kelsey, having recently taught a training course in Vancouver, bopped on home for a wedding dress shopping experience in preparation for her 2024 wedding. Rebecca tried on many styles including ball gown, mermaid, sheath/column, two piece and the outcome is top secret! We’re some excited for you folks indeed.

Our own Jess Wedden and Chris Murphy are performing a charitable fund-raising musical event at St. Andrews Anglican Church in Sharbot Lake on Wed. Oct. 26 @ 7, for $20.00 a ticket. RBC in Sharbot Lake will have tickets as well as many of the church people.

Our Pine Meadow People are opening their Haunted Courtyard experience for Halloween evening Oct. 31 – starting at 5:30 and all children are welcome to be accompanied by an adult. The residents will have so much fun watching the trick or treaters go by.

Hope folks will set aside Sat. Oct. 21 for the Charitable Vendor Bash at Henderson Hall from 10- 2 in aid of the hall and the Henderson United Church. It features 40 on-site vendors, an Amazing Prize table, bake sale, lunch for sale (pulled pork and regular sandwiches), special music by Jim MacPherson. As well, the spectacular “Not So Amateur Amateur Children's Theater Company” will be attending to offer professional face painting while bringing along their cotton candy machine and popcorn machine. Be sure to bring a lawn chair and visit, listen to music and support our church and hall.
