The first of many May/June events will be the Victoria Day Fireworks, May 18, at the Recreation Park (behind the Post Office), starting at dusk. The Canteen will be open and the Kennebec Rec Committee will have a free will donation jar at the main gate and at the Canteen
Land O’Lakes Parent Council Fun
Fair Wednesday May 22 from 5pm-8pm. Inflatables, balloon animals, a bake auction, family bingo, face painting and much more. There will be a special presentation from Raes Reptiles at 5:30. as well as a BBQ put on by our local volunteer fire department. Wrist bands $20, as well as individual priced tickets.
On Tuesday May 20, at 6:00 pm Circle Square Ranch will host a Roast beef dinner, which will include mashed potatoes, rolls, veggies and dessert. A Yard Sale will be held at the Henderson Hall on June 8 and June 22 from 8am - 12noon. Donations of 'gently used' items will be gratefully accepted from May 19 until June 5 and from June 10 until June 19. Please contact (613) 336-2467 or (613) 336-9234.
On the evening of June 8, at 5pm, the Kennebec Rec Committee will be hosting a Spaghetti Dinner and Quarter auction. Proceeds to support the 3rd phase of the Arden rink development plan. The Land O’ Lakes Community Services Spaghetti Supper is back! All you can eat so make sure to come hungry! Supper will be held on May 25th from 4pm – 7pm at the Barrie Township Hall in Cloyne. The Land O’Lakes Garden Club will hold its annual Plant Sale at 1444 Road 506, starting at 9 am sharp on May 25th. They will have 4 varieties of tomatoes, peppers, squash, cabbage, lettuce, herbs and so much more and of course tried and true perennials with Hostas their specialty. They will also have some annuals, Canna lilies anyone? So, please hold off and shop local for your veggies this year and support this amazing club. On May 25th, the Finton Recreation Club with we will be hosting an ATV/UTV Ride. The ride will begin at the Flinton Hall at 10am (registration starts at 9:30) and will head to Lingham Lake, Cooper, Madoc, Tweed and back to Flinton. There will be chili available for a donation at the Hall upon return. Cost is $15 /bike.
On May 31st, the Rec Club we will be hosting a babysitter’s course at the Flinton Hall. It is available to youth in grades 5-8 and runs from 8:30-3:30. Cost is $79.10 and the Rec. Club will cover $40 of that cost. Registration is limited to 26 youth so be sure to register early to ensure your spot. On Wednesday May 22nd Rand Simon will be the guest at the speaker’s series at the Lions’ Hall in Northbrook. Rand is a Hockey Agent who will talk about negotiations, trades and the challenges of moving from one team to another, sometimes in a matter of a day. Doors open at 6:30pm. Snacks will be served.
The Lions 2nd Annual Dog Walk Come is happening on May 26th. This is a fundraiser for the Dog Guides of Canada. Registration starts around 8:30 with the walk going from the Lions Hall in Northbrook at 10 and winding the way over to Pine Meadow Nursing Home.

The Denbigh Recreation Committee thanks the community for making the Mother’s Day Tea on Saturday the 11th a great event. The prize winners were Sally Keller for the door prize, Carol Anne Kelly for best dressed, and Amanda Harvey for the best hat. Everyone looked lovely.
There will be cards on Friday May 17 at 7:00 p.m. at the Denbigh Hall. Please come and join in all the fun. There will be a Horse Pull Light Class and Heavy Class at Heritage Park 48 Lane St. Denbigh on Saturday June 1 starting at 1:00 p.m. Admission is $10 per Adult and under 12 free That same evening there is a 19+ Dance in the Denbigh Hall with Pitch Black from 8:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m.; tickets are $15.

The Denbigh Griffith Lions Club 2024 Bursary will provide up to $500 in assistance to high school students who are continuing their education in College or University after leaving high school. Jessie Gurnsey-Detlor-Sajevec of Napanee accompanied by her Grandson Keenan Detlor of New Mexico visited the family homestead in Henderson and various relatives. Keenan is just graduated from high school and we had a great visit.

Youth Dance for students in Grades 5 to 8 at the Lion’s Hall in Sunbury on Friday May 24th from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. Admission is $5. Canteen available and music by DJ. Adult supervision. Proceeds from this event will benefit Glenburnie Public School.
Community Food Drive at the Storrington Lions Club on Friday, May 31st from 1 to 5 pm. The Ompah Transfer Station switches to the Summer Hours as of May 15th.
On Saturday, May 18th, come out and support our local elementary school, at the Clarendon Central Public School’s 2nd Annual Spring Sale. It runs from 9am to 1pm, and includes a plant sale, vendor & yard sale, bake sale, and a BBQ. The event is organized by the CCPS Parent Council.
Please join us for Wednesday morning coffee, at the Ompah Community Centre at 10am where we meet and chat over coffee, tea and treats each week (except the 1st Wednesday of the month). After your coffee, you can drop in to the library which is also open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am to noon.
We need your ideas! We are planning this year’s community events at the Ompah Community Centre. Please join us for a short meeting on Thursday, May 23rd., at 7:30pm, to create a list of fun, interesting events and activities that you and your family would like to attend.
On May 23rd, from 1pm to 3pm, Lorraine Ross, the KFLA Alzheimer Society’s Education Coordinator will present a Dementia-Friendly Info Session at Land O’ Lakes Emmanuel United Church, 108 Addington Road 2, Northbrook, ON K0H 2G0 It’s free and there will be light refreshments. Thank you to all those who supported the Annual Giant Flea Market in Parham. Looks like everyone enjoyed themselves and got a great deal from local vendors.
Bill Lee and Bob Teal worked hard on the Pickle Ball and Volleyball Courts at the Parham Fair Grounds despite the drizzling rain on the 5th of May. We will soon have the pickle balls courts paved and lined and ready for you to use!
All baseball teams are getting geared up for the upcoming season. Thank you volunteers who coach or keep this up and running in any way. We have also been lucky enough to have some great sponsors step forward so huge shout out to NFTC, Sargeant Tree Removal, Crains Construction LTD, Archie's Angels (Diana Meeks) and Amherstview Family Dental clinic - be sure to check out the jerseys our team's will be wearing and support these local business when you can.

The Holy Trinity Anglican Church celebrated their one-year anniversary this week! It's been a whole year since the group has been meeting again to play cards and visit. Gardening season has begun, we all miss Silverbrook Garden Centre, as one of our go to’s for gardening, hopefully your many returning plants from years gone by that originated from our beloved Darryl helps us fill the void this community feels with the loss of him.
Wow guys, sold out crowd for Jeff Code and The Silver Wings band last Saturday night at our local Legion, wonderful time was had. Thanks to all those involved in making this happen, the donation of carnations for our ladies who joined in was greatly appreciated, Christine at Memory Lane Flowers is a super wonderful supporter.

South Frontenac Museum Society will hold a Book Talk with author Laurie Ness Gordon and her new novel “Finding home” This will be held on Saturday, May 25 at 2 pm. Explore the local connections in her newly released novel. Finding Home follows the lives of two young people in early Eastern Canada. Finding Home pulls back the curtain on many issues of the time class differences, Protestant/ Catholic friction, homophobia, racism, and the treatment of child immigrants. Admission is by donation and she will have copies for sale.
The Summer Kickoff Music Festival will be held Saturday, May 25 from 4 pm to 10 pm at the Centennial Park, Harrowsmith. Enjoy this music festival featuring the regions best live local music. There will be food and beverages. Plus a kids zone for young festival goers.
Frontenac Women’s Choir and Melodia Chamber Choir will present Chorus for Change on Sunday June 2 from 2:30 pm to 4 pm at the Harrowsmith Free Methodist Church. This is a fundraiser for the South Frontenac Community Services. $25 at the door.
