Tay Valley Bird Watching - We're excited to share that our first-ever bird-watching outing was an incredible success! The group of nature enthusiasts gathered at Maberly Community Hall bright and early on a Tuesday morning last month to explore the rich diversity of birds in Tay Valley Township. The group managed to see 30 different species on this particular outing. But it wasn't just about spotting birds; it was about forging connections with fellow bird enthusiasts, sharing stories, and fostering a deeper appreciation for the natural world around us. Thank you to everyone who participated in the first outing and we will see you again on May 28th! If you haven't registered with us yet, feel free to do so by calling 613-267-5353 ext.110 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and, it's FREE! We have a few spots left. Tours will begin at 6:30am on the last Tuesday of April, May and June.
Tay Valley Township is pleased to announce that the popular Otty Lake Boat Launch has a whole new look and feel, with: an information kiosk that explains the lake's rich natural and cultural heritage; a bench by the water’s edge; a dock; and an increased parking area. This popular—and completely free—public water access point on Otty Lake has provided generations of residents and visitors alike with a wonderful location to meet up for a casual boat ride, to go fishing, go for a paddle, and make the most of summer. Tay Valley Township would like to thank the Government of Canada for the grant for the dock, Lanark County for the $5,000 tourism grant, the Otty Lake Association for its funding contribution of $500 and for researching and writing the kiosk content; and Stan Strickland, who built the kiosk. The boat launch located at 141 Miller Bay also offers an accessible washroom in season.
