The District #2 Recreation Committee thanks everyone for the great turnout to their Music at the Hall event last Saturday. There was dancing, wonderful music, food and a lot of fun. They have already scheduled their next Musical Afternoon June 29.
Last week, Mike Proctor was awarded the Sharbot Lake and Lions outstanding Citizen’s award for 2024. This certainly is well deserved as Mike have devoted much of his time and efforts in creating Sharbot Lake we know and all of its many endeavours to make it so. His contributions were many and he made a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. Congratulations, Mike!! You are appreciated.
Speaking of the Lions, I have been told that their very popular All You Can Eat breakfast will continue on during the summer.
The Kennebec Rec Committee will be hosting the 2nd Annual Spaghetti Dinner and Quarter auction, at the Hall, June 8 at 5pm. All proceeds from the dinner will be applied to their phase 3 of the restoration of the washrooms at the Sports Centre. The first of Henderson United Yard sales will be June 8, 8am to 12 Noon, with the second one June 22.
The Friends of Arden are hosting their Annual Village Cleanup on Thursday June 13, with a rain date of June 14. Volunteers will meet at the Kennebec Community Centre at 9am, and there will be a free lunch at 11am. Bring your working gloves, boots, if necessary and bug spray. The volunteers are thanked in advance.
A few dates to keep in mine for the Kennebec Rec Committee coming events are July 13, for their 2nd Canoe & Water safety Course, July 20 for a pickleball tournament and August 11 for a Cornhole tournament. There is also ball hockey at the rink as well.
If you do not play sports you can certainly support those that do. The 3-pitch league of Central Frontenac have games in Mountain Grove, Parham and Sharbot Lake Sunday’s at 2pm. Fun in the sun.

We send our prayers to the families involved in that horrible boat accident on Bob’s Lake, and also thinking of Dawn Hansen as she recovers at home.

Bethel Pentecostal Church in Kalandar News: Women's Potluck Brunch. It is from 10-12 on Saturday, June 8th. We will have the directors from New Life Women's Home sharing about their ministry. Saturday, June 8th is the opening date for the Lions Farmers Market. Lots of vendors returning and of course the Lions Canteen with the now famous “Eggers”. The market will run from 10-2 every Saturday through to Labour Day Weekend…come have a specialized coffee and check out the new vendors too. Also going on Saturday June 8th at Foodland when the Maple Leaf Community Cruiser will be holding a BBQ from 11-2 with hotdogs, sausages and drinks available by donation with proceeds going to support the Lions Club. Cloyne Pioneer Museum and Archives News: Join us for a bus tour of the Ameliasburgh Heritage Village in Prince Edward County! Explore 18 preserved buildings in all their splendour. Staff may be in period dress, too. Members and non-members of the Cloyne and District Historical Society are welcome Friday, June 14th. On June 12th all are invited to The Land O’ Lakes Garden Club and listen to speaker Master Gardener Susie Everding. The Denbigh Recreation Committee is hosting a Horse Pull Light Class and Heavy Class at Heritage Park 48 Lane St. Denbigh on Saturday June 1 starting at 1pm. Well the Summer Kickoff Music Festival on Saturday in Centennial Park in Harrowsmith was a huge success! There were multiple food trucks, slushy drinks, cider and beer. And, of course, a kids' zone and music!!! It rained just before the event, but then cleared up just in time for everyone to come out and have some fun.

Wow, wasn't that a party! Thank you to the organizers of the Kick Off to Summer Music Festival in Harrowsmith on Saturday night. It was a great lineup of entertainment!! The food and beverage vendors were amazing and offered something for everyone!!! The event was well thought out and executed to perfection - so if you were involved in anyway - kudos to you... You rocked it... Almost as much as Lowery Mills did!!! Fantastic job! Can't wait for next year!
Congregation of Parham United Church enjoyed another delicious soup luncheon after the service on Sunday.
Don't forget about the Spaghetti Dinner on June 1st for the Youth Outreach starts at 5 - 7 at the Parham United Church. Come out and support the local Youth Program. $12 Adult, $6 Children (ages 6 to 12).

June 23 is the Parham United Church's 150th celebration at the Parham Fair Grounds. Recipes have been collected and have been sent to the printers, they may be here in time to sell at this celebration if not they will be available at the Parham Fair when we have our booth there or you may get them from a church member.
Heart felt sympathy to the family of the late Frank Goodfellow, former resident of Parham, who retired from his family farm in Parham to reside in Godfrey. Frank was an avid ball player, served on the Fair Board and was an active member of the Parham United Church until his move.
This paragraph is dedicated to the front line workers and responders who have had a great deal to handle with in the last 2 weeks in this area, with the car and boating accidents. Thank you to those professionals who did an amazing quick response to the scenes and to those who did their jobs both during and after. Big thank you also to the counsellors who worked with and are still being there for those students and family dealing with such trauma.
Next week in Minor Ball at Parham we have games at 630pm both Monday and Thursday and then Wednesday June 5th we have games at both 630 and 830 - so pop in and watch.

Saturday, June 1st is the Annual General Meeting for the North Frontenac Historical Society & Archives at the Plevna Clar-Mill Community Hall (6598 Buckshot Lake Road). Displays showing the most recent projects and some outlining 2024 projects will be open at noon. The business meeting starts at 1pm, followed by entertainment. The White Family will return this year as last year they were a big hit. Also joining the entertainers will be Ron Lemke and Brooke Gunsinger. Brooke is a very talented young lady who plays a number of instruments. This past year she has shared her musical gift with the public and NFHSA is pleased to have her on stage at this Community event where everyone is welcome.
There is a large two bay garage and office for rent right on the main highway in Plevna across from Clarendon School. It comes with a large air compressor and old school hoist. There is lots of lighting and workbenches and nice high ceilings. The exterior will be finished by June 1st and the rent will be $850 a month plus heat in the winter. The Township of North Frontenac will be giving away FREE TREES again this year on June 15th from 9-noon at 6638 Buckshot Lake Road. This is open to North Frontenac Property Owners and is first come first serve. Reserving of trees is not permitted and limitations may apply. The dragonflies have arrived. Neat tidbit on them: If you come across a dragonfly in life, it can serve as a reminder to live life to the fullest and appreciate every moment. Dragonflies can also symbolize that you're ready for a change in your life, and they can be a great initiative to get started. Also, they fly faster than most insects.

Don & Linda's Back Yard Gardens will be held this Saturday, June 1 from 9am to 1pm. Plants galore, tomato, kale, cabbage, cucumbers, onions, rhubarb, plus over 200 perennials, fresh asparagus, herbs, salad greens, garden planters salad bowls, crafts and more... Frontenac Women’s Choir and Melodia Chamber Choir will present Chorus for Change on Sunday, June 2 from 2:30pm to 4pm at the Harrowsmith Free Methodist Church. This is a fundraiser for the South Frontenac Community Services. $25 at the door.

There are two Free Food Pantries in Verona. One at Rona Hardware and the other beside the Revell used lot at 6618 Road #38. Whether a need for food or a need to give, mini pantries help feed neighbours, nourishing neighbourhoods. Help keep the pantry stocked with non-perishable food and other household necessities, toiletries, etc. “Take What You Need and Leave What You Can”.
