Arden
by Brent Fehr
This area was named Kennebec Township in 1823, and during the mid-nineteenth century, setters came up the Salmon River in search of land. Every male settler over eighteen years old was promised a hundred acres, first on the river, then on Horseshoe Lake, Buck Lake, and Bull Lake. Later, lots were created on the shores of Deep Water Lake (now Big Clear Lake) and Cross Lake (now Kennebec.) The first arrivals were by water or on foot, but gradually people got together and build rough trails for carts.

Our Ardoch Post Office is now closed as of July 19th. Sharbot Lake and Cloyne will be the closest Post Offices for your needs for now. Hopefully, we can get a new Post Office somewhere in our community again soon.
Speaking of postal service, if you live in Ardoch, you may be one of many that can't seem to get a package delivered from Amazon through the trucking company Intelcom. It would seem that Amazon has moved to another trucking company and Intelcom does not like the Ardoch postal Code K0H 1C0. Ompah and Plevna seem to get packages fine. I think if it comes to you through Canada Post, you are ok, but Intelcom sends all our packages back to Amazon saying they were damaged and undeliverable. This is unacceptable and very frustrating!!! Several people have phoned and complained with no success. It would be so nice if someone out there reading this could do something to help us!! Any suggestions would be welcomed!
The LCBO's are open again as of Tuesday July 23rd! Yay!!
Did you hear the Great news? North of 7 Restaurant is extending their hours and will be open at 10am on Wednesday's, Thursday's and Friday's! Don't forget to check them out on Saturday nights for their Supper Special of the week! Always best to call and make a reservation at 613 479-2603.

Central and North Frontenac Townships are located within the Province’s RTO sector known as the “Ontario Highlands.” Our region stretches from Sharbot Lake to the Ottawa River and from the Rideau Lakes to the Haliburton Highlands. Sharbot Lake is the gateway to the highlands from the southwest and the region is great for weekend explorers. These may include Motor Cyclists riding the Highlands, people looking for our backroad artisans, those exploring the historic Rideau lakes, and those on Craft beer road trips. These barely scratch the surface of the reasons people travel here to wander the Highlands.
