The “new” Arden School was built in 1931. After the area schools were consolidated, the building became the Kennebec Hall and also holds the local library.

September 14th - Barn Dance (minus the barn) at Arden Legion, Fire Fighter Fundraiser for Station 1 (Arden) & 2 (Mountain Grove). Saturday Night barn dance, multiple different draws, a silent auction and Karaoke, 7pm until Last call (2am). All Proceeds will be going to Central Frontenac stations 1 & 2. Tickets are available for $10 a piece beforehand or $15 the night of at the door. The final Music in the Park was postponed last week, and is now this Saturday, August 24th, from 1-3 at The Point in Sydenham. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy some food vendors, face painting and the summer sounds of Sleeping Dogs.
Don't forget: Sunday, August 25 is the official can collection day at the Storrington Lion's Hall. What a great initiative, supporting Guide Dogs Canada!

Saturday, August 31, 2024 is the B&B Memorial Show and Shine in the Harrowsmith Centennial Park from 10am-4pm. For details see the FaceBook B&B Memorial Show and Shine. All proceeds will go to the local Fire Departments and Food Bank.

Poor weather caused the cancellation of the Fundraising BBQ and concert in Arden planned by the Kennebec Historical Society and the Arden & Community Wesleyan Church.
Our Harlowe folks rocked on at their musical event last Saturday (Aug. 17)- featuring yummy in the tummy food, dancing, singing, reminiscing, visiting. Folks really rock and roll on the dance floor that’s for sure!!
Please set aside Sat. Aug. 31 for a super duper fundraising spaghetti supper at the Henderson Hall from 4pm-7pm in aid of Henderson United Church. Marvelous menu includes: spaghetti (gluten free and regular options) buns, salad, dessert, drinks, lots of laughs. Adults $10, children 6-12 cost $6 and children 5 and under are free.

Thank you to everybody that sent in their pictures with your impressive catches! This week's fish was a good sized 10.5 pound lake trout from Palmerston Lake caught by Gavin Henry trolling with a spoon! Please send in your pictures with what lake you caught the fish on, how big it was and which lure you were using.
On Fri, Aug 23rd the Clar-Mill Community Volunteers invite you to come on out to the Plevna Clar-Mill Hall to enjoy a fundraising pulled pork dinner with all the fixings! YUM!! Doors open at 5pm and don't forget to bring your dancing shoes because afterwards there will be a Summer Blowout Dance with Great Music from Tailgate Tiki Bar starting at 7pm hosted by Riverhill Farm to help fund this year's fireworks show at the 11th annual Christmas Lights Display opening Sat Nov 30th! You can purchase tickets from Mary Ann Ward, Stephanie Lemke, Donna Denna, Betty Hunter and myself. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for kids for the meal and $5 for the dance and they are selling fast!

The Party of Fall is happening. Be sure to grab your tickets soon as this will be a show to remember. The Ride is coming to the Sydenham Legion on Sept 14th, doors open at 7:30 and band starts at 8. Jim Patterson and his boys will be sure to keep you on the dance floor all night. Tickets are $10 and available at the One Stop and the legion downstairs (hours 2-6 Tuesday to Saturday).
Word on the street is there is a yard sale you won’t want to miss this Saturday, August 24th, multi family from 8-2 location 2269 Horning Road, clothes, home decor, kitchen stuff and much more. Rain or shine.
A huge shout out to our annual backpack campaign family. Heidi and her boys Dylan, Karter and Cooper started this backpack campaign a few years back; they’ve set a goal of 40 full backpacks to help those who need it for back to school. Amazing community spirit gang, our community really pulls together even when times are tough for themselves.

“Gear Up For Greatness” is a local charity initiative dedicated to ensuring that every child in our community has the opportunity to play hockey safely and confidently, regardless of their financial circumstances. Visit them on Saturday, August 24 from 10am to 2pm at Centennial Park, Harrowsmith. There will be live music from DJ WSTP, food trucks, pick up ball hockey, bounce castles and much more.
The B & B Memorial Show n Shine will be held Saturday, August 31 from 10am to 4pm at Centennial Park. Harrowsmith. This is an annual car show with food trucks, vendors and all proceeds going to Central and South Frontenac fire departments.

Verona Lions Garlic Farmers Market will be held Saturday, August 31 from 9am to 2pm at the Verona Lions Club. Egg McLions for breakfast 9-11. Burgers, sausages, hot dogs and fries from 11-2. Coffee, tea and juice and soft drinks available.
On Tuesday, September 3, the Women's Luncheon will be hosting an Alzheimer's Coffee Break. The Education Coordinator from the Alzheimer Society will speak on types of dementia, services for caregivers, and answer any questions that women may have. This is an annual fundraiser and women are asked to donate the price of a cup of coffee. The luncheon starts at 12:30 at MOM Restaurant in Verona and, also as usual, the men seem to be enjoying meeting and eating together "out front".
