Testing at the beginning of this week showed that the E.coli levels in the water off the Point Beach in Sydenham Lake had returned to safe levels, and the beach was reopened to swimmers on July 12.
One week earlier, on July 5, KFL&A Public Health notified the Township that the beach was unsafe for swimming due to unacceptable levels of E.coli in the water.” KFLAPH tests the water off the beach daily, but not on weekends, and two consecutive days of clean tests are required before the water can be declared safe to swim in.
Residents can sign up to receive email updates on all beaches monitored by KFL&A Public Health on their website, KFLAPH.ca.
