Bloom Farm near Harrowsmith will be hosting a brand new event on September 14.

“It is important for us as hosts of this event to promote a strong economic ecosystem for farmers. Giving a venue for the community to meet farmers and food producers and taste creations using their products, will highlight what's available in the area."  said Tarra Williamson of Bloom Farm about the event that she has put together.

She said that the germ of the idea actually started during the COVID pandemic, when the first get-together of friends that she held at her farm was an outdoor gathering with food served on small tables at various locations, in order to maintain distancing.

‘Gather’ will be a self guided tour at 8 food and drink stations on the property. The event will also include an opportunity to visit the vegetable plot, the greenhouse, the fire pit, the corn fields, and other parts of the farm. Because of its informal nature, there will be plenty of opportunity for mixing and mingling with other guests. There will also be a central tent for gatherers to sit, relax, network and, of course, eat and drink.

Chef Elisa Corrigan, who runs Rampant Kitchen out of Inverary will be creating the dishes from ingredients from the local farmers, who will also be on hand throughout the late afternoon, early evening event.

Tickets to ‘Gather’ are priced at $125 per person, which includes local beer, wine, and cider, as well as a copious selection of small plate dishes prepared by Elisa Corrigan, who is a past winner of the Fire Masters Challenge on the Food Network.

In addition to the food and drink, tickets include a welcome bag full of goodies, the souvenir glass and mini charcuterie board that will be used at the event, and a $10 gift card that has been donated for use at the Frontenac Farmers Market.

“You will be well fed, educated, and maybe a friend or two richer,” said Tarra Williams.

Joining Bloom Farm, as suppliers to ‘Gather’, are Whan Farm, the Rise Farm, Kick and Push Brewery, Grain and Goods Bakery, and a host of other local producers.
