The Frontenac Holistic Health Fair has moved this year, to the Storrington Centre, Battersea Road. The lineup of 11 workshop presenters and 21 vendors (at last count) continues to expand and develop, providing a packed 5-hour schedule next Saturday (September 21).
Ellie Steele has organised the fair again this year. She runs Evolution Wellness Coaching, and the fair, which is a labour of love for her, reflects her own 20-year journey as a wellness practitioner. Like many other practitioners, it all started for her when she was in her 20s. She was working in a factory, and developed a variety of ailments from the chemicals that she was exposed to. After not being able to find a proper diagnosis, or treatment, she took the matter into her own hands, quit her job and began a whole foods diet and other natural health remedies, and was feeling better in short order.
She has been a nutrition and fitness coach, when she realised that, in her words “I had the epiphany that having all the knowledge in the world about nutrition and fitness wouldn’t help me (or my clients) apply that knowledge and really make the changes I (we) wanted to make.”
She did 3 levels of Reiki training after that, and then went on to incorporate EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) also known as “tapping”. Tapping refers to tapping with her fingertips on acupuncture points in order to clear energy blocks in her clients.
She described it as” a mind-body-spirit technique with powerful effects that pave the way for healing at a very deep level of being.”
Ellie Steele’s journey with Evolution Wellness has given her an appreciation of the unique journey each of her clients embarked upon, and the vast variety of career paths that other holistic practitioners have undertaken as well.
“I have been surprised over and over again as I have been organising the fair, how many people there are in South Frontenac, providing different types of therapy.
There will be two workshop locations at the fair this year, one in the hall and one (hopefully) outside. The indoor workshops include Qigong and Steps to Self-Healing with Marilyn Picard, Self Hypnosis with Doctor Norm Hart, Body Awake Yoga with Manon Vermette, and more.
Outdoors on the grass, weather permitting, there will be a yoga flow class with Tricia Cain, Mudras
(hand yoga postures) with Maria Teglas, a presentation about forest from Claire Beach, and more as well.
And around the hall, over 20 information and product booths will be set up. A list of vendors is posted on the frontenacholistichealthfair Instagram or Facebook page.
The theme this year is “Healing at Home” a reference to the fact that the vast majority of the practitioners who are participating are from South Frontenac, and many of them also work from home.
Admission to the fair is free, with a donation of non-perishable food items or cash to benefit the South Frontenac food bank. Pre-registration is not required, but everyone who does pre-register will be eligible for a prize package. To pre-register, use the QR code on the Healing at Home ad on page 8 or go to tickettailor.com/events/evolutionwellness/1259133
