On the bright side, the Sydenham High School senior boys football team beat Regiopolis in the quarterfinals on November 6, 34-28.
That set up a semi-final encounter with the Frontenac SS, who were 7-0 in the regular season, earning a bye into the semifinals. Frontenac has been rolling over most of the teams in the league throughout the season by lopsided scores. The 26-14 regular season win over Sydenham early in the season was one of their closer games.
The Golden Eagles were no match for Frontenac at the semifinal on Tuesday. The final score was 38-7 in favour of Frontenac.
Frontenac moves on to the final against Lasalle, who wone tight 28-26 battle over Holy Cross in the late game on Tuesday.
The KASSAA final is set for Richardson stadium on Saturday (November 16) at 3pm. Frontenac beat Lasalle 24-10 late in the regular season, on October 31.
Varsity Field Hockey at OFSAA
The field hockey team played three tight round robin games at the province-wide OFSAA tournament in Niagara Falls, losing 1-0 twice and 3-1 in the game against the eventual bronze medalists from Saltfleet High School.
