Trinity Quilter Jean Clair’s quilt, “Row by Row”, will be just one of her 35 quilts, which will be featured along with 65 other fine examples of piece, appliqué and embroidered quilts at the Trinity Quilters show that takes place at Verona Trinity United Church on Saturday, October 15.
Also on display will be her award-winning quilt “Monet's Broken Star” that won best in show and the viewers’ choice award at the 2009 Napanee Quilt Show. Jean will also be displaying her “Impressionist Flower Garden” wall hanging, a piece that celebrates impressionist painters of days gone by.
Jean is a passionate quilter who loves nothing more than the joy, friendship and creativity that goes hand in hand with quilting and says that she is just one of many quilters who “stitch love” into every quilt that they make. And these quilts are not just cozy, useable works that have been gifted to others with the intention of sharing that love and warmth; they are also stand-alone works of art unto themselves. “The choice of colours, patterns and arrangement of blocks and the choice of style all offer up such a wide range of possibilities that makes each quilt unique and special in its own way,” Jean said.
The $8 admission to the show includes lunch, and half of the proceeds will go to the Southern Frontenac Community Services Enhanced Adult Day Away Program. Anyone who is curious about the joy, love, creativity and friendship with which quilts are made should not miss this very special show.
