Photo: Peter, Kylie, Vicki and Taylor Babcock thank the community for all of their support
Life is just getting back to normal for the Babcock family and on Oct. 2 there were balloons, cake, and dancing at the Verona Lions Hall courtesy of Peter and Vicki Babcock to thank the community for the support they have received throughout their youngest daughter Kylie's battle with cancer.
Kylie was diagnosed in September of 2009 when she was just two years old. She underwent surgery at the Toronto Sick Children’s Hospital to have a tumor removed from her liver. She later underwent six rounds of chemotherapy at the Southeastern Ontario Cancer Centre in Kingston to fight the cancer, which had spread to her lungs.
With her third birthday just around the corner, (this Thanksgiving to be exact)) there is much to celebrate, most importantly the good news that Kylie's most recent CT scan, which took place just last Friday at KGH, came back clear.
With all of that now behind them the Babcocks felt a community celebration was definitely in order. “We thought it was our turn to say thank you to the community and because Kylie is doing really well now, we figured now would be a great time to celebrate,” said Kylie's mother Vicki.
Kylie will be starting junior kindergarten next September and according to Vicki family life is starting to get back to normal, with both Peter and Vicki having recently having returned to work.
The Babcocks are thrilled to see Kylie enjoying herself and they have future plans to enter next year's Relay for Life under the team name, what else...Team Kylie.
