Reveal.

Dictionary definition: verb to make (previously unknown information) known to others.

Reveal of a title.

A few days ago was the Birthday of one of the amazing Past District Governors Lion Dave Hansen of Sharbot Lake & District Lions Club. I will NOT, over the course of the upcoming Roars, be noting everyone’s birthdays, but, in this one case, I am allowing myself an exception.

I would like to tell you a story about this Lion who has just turned 86 years young, and I hope, that should he & his better half, Lion Dawn be reading this, smile.

Many moons away, as a young man, Dave stepped in to help with an activity of a Lions club. Over the course of the following three years, he attended every meeting and supported in many events. To everyone’s shock, when asked to be a delegate of the club and vote at the District Convention, he mentioned, he wasn’t a member yet.

Serving as a Lion, a matter dear to us, comes from the heart and doesn’t need a title. His story is proof of that.

With love and thanks for your service, Happy Birthday to you PDG.

Reveal of a banner.

Service from the heart comes in many forms, but there is no greater service than that with which a person is willing to sacrifice one’s life to ensure freedom and peace to others. That is the service of our veterans.

In a few days families, friends and anyone from the community can join us at the Lions Club of Land O’ Lakes, as we reveal the banners of the veterans a few days earlier than flying them on poles along Highway 41.

We can only imagine how touching and heart-warming will the event be to the families.

With love and thanks for the service of your family members, and an extra thanks for allowing us to share those moments with you.

Reveal of an action.

Our club members have decided to serve a Thanksgiving Dinner from the heart. Our members will cook, some members and friends of Lions will donate the turkeys, and everyone can have a free meal that evening.

Don’t spend Thanksgiving alone. Don’t worry about the cost of the dinner. We are waiting to join you for a meal.

Till we meet again in a Roar, plan trips along our scenic routes, watch the changing colors of the leaves and meet us, on the 6th of Oct for The Reveal of the Remembrance Day Banners.
