Imagine a “Day Spa*” in Central Frontenac, more specifically in Arden, just over the Salmon River, down the winding Cranberry Lake Road.  Well, it’s here!

*Day Spa - from Wikipedia. A day spa is a business that provides a variety of services for the purpose of improving health, beauty, and relaxation through personal care treatments such as massages, manicure + pedicure, and facials. 

Aimee Gosse, the owner, of this 14 month old spa has been in Arden for more than 20 years.  She originally arrived from Kitchener, with a desire to raise their children in a country setting and live a healthy and active 'farm life'. 

Aimee and her husband also ran a catering company that specialized in serving prime rib, steak, honey garlic chicken and kebobs! They traveled all over Ontario!  Each menu was customized based on the venue, and they catered in very unconventional places; century barns, theatres, lakesides etc.  Along with the Arden-based catering business was a full-time family farm raising beef & lamb for her family of 8. 

The Gosse family went through a deep and personal tragedy with the sudden death of their young son. Moving through this grief became the catalyst for Aimee to want to focus on looking after people in a meaningful way.  “I have always personally loved Spa services for myself”, Aimee said.  “I contemplated this idea with the encouragement of Paul (her husband). There was nothing like this being offered in my area so I decided to go for it!” The Cranberry Day Spa was born. So many people; men and women struggle with taking time for themselves and she wanted to provide a beautiful and welcoming place for this to happen. 

Word of mouth has been so important for Aimee. Locals choose to come to Cranberry Day Spa rather than driving to the big cities has been key.  Being added to “things to do in the area” from local businesses is a huge help. Clients returning again and again is Aimee’s hope! 

I asked Aimee what the feedback so far;  “Incredible! I have met the most wonderful people and made so many new friends of all ages. We laugh and cry together and also share times of quietness . We share our lives in complete confidentiality.  This area is full of Spa loving locals and visitors. Everyday I am reminded of how lucky I am to be doing this. I could not be in a better role. I love my job!”
